Belarus to start GM crop trials in 2012
Belarus will commence field trials of genetically modified crops in the spring of 2012, reports newswire www.tvr.by. The country is readying a testing site that will be located in Minsk at the biological testing station of the country’s National Academy of Sciences. The head of the national co-ordination centre of biosafety at the Academy has been quoted as stressing the importance of “appropriate levels of science” for the welfare of the citizens.
