Bayer targets €8bn business in 2014
Bayer CropScience predicts annual sales in excess of €8,000 million ($10.563 million at the current rate) by the end of 2014. Bayer group chief executive officer Dr Marijn Dekkers told an investor conference in Leverkusen, Germany, that Bayer expects the division to see growth from its crop protection and seed and trait BioScience businesses. “Bayer … has development pipelines that are well stocked with promising projects. We aim to post sales of roughly €1.5 billion in 2014 with new crop protection products that we have introduced to the market since 2006,” Dr Dekkers noted. He gave prominence to thebixafen-based Xpro fungicide range and the fungicide, Luna (fluopyram). Luna was recently introduced onto the US market following approvals in Turkey and the UK ( Agrow No 634, p 18), while bixafen gained its first approval in the UK in 2010 ( Agrow No 599, p 20).
