Colombia/Argentina biotech R&D deal
The Argentine and Colombian governments are to co-operate in the research and development of biotechnology products for application in food production, among others. The Colombian Department of Science and Technology, Colciencias, signed an agreement with the Argentine Ministry of Science, Technology and Productive Innovation last month, the Latin American agricultural biotechnology association, AgroBio reports. The five-year deal includes work on improving sustainable use systems and protecting biodiversity. The agreement will incorporate R&D projects from small and medium-sized companies, which can pool resources in developing products.
