New Australian agchem fees delayed

The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority's (APVMA) planned introduction of re-registration and "pre-application advice" fees is to be deferred for a year. An Aus$700 (US$671) re-registration fee and an Aus$350 (US$336) pre-registration fee were due to be implemented from July 1st under interim cost recovery arrangements laid down in November 2012 (Agrow No 654, p 17). However, those fees will not take effect until July 1st 2014, subject to the passage of the 2012 Agricultural and Veterinary Chemicals Legislation Amendment Bill. The Bill was passed by the House of Representatives in May, but the industry has urged the Senate to veto the legislation (Agrow No 664, p 21).
