Hokko seeks to import Kasumin 2L to NZ
The Japanese agrochemical company, Hokko Chemical Industry (Tokyo), has applied to the New Zealand Environmental Protection Authority to import its bactericide, Kasumin 2L (kasugamycin 20 g/litre), for the control of bacterial canker (Pseudomonas syringae pv actinidiae) on kiwifruit and other bacterial diseases on pome fruit and horticultural crops. It would be imported from Japan as a water-soluble concentrate formulation either in bulk or in labelled containers for distribution and sale to the commercial sector. Hokko says that Kasumin 2L is an alternative to streptomycin, with lower risks to users and consumers. The application is open to public comment until July 24th.
