Wynca embroiled in agchem pollution case
Chinese public security officials are investigating an unnamed company with which Chinese company Zhejiang Wynca Chemical has warehousing operations on allegations of environmental pollution. Chinese media reports have linked the case to the recent environmental evaluations concerning the production of the herbicide, glyphosate, which were introduced last month (Agrow No 665, p 21). Two employees of a Wynca subsidiary that deals with the company in question are “assisting with the investigation”, Wynca says. The company under investigation stores some of Wynca’s chemical intermediates. Wynca says that the investigation continues, and that its manufacturing operations have not been affected. It is one of China’s leading glyphosate manufacturers.
