Italian police seize €2m illegal agchem haul
Italian police have seized some €2 million ($2.7 million) of illegal pesticides in one operation. The haul included some 80 tonnes of contraband agrochemicals. The agrochemical industry association, Agrofarma, has praised the authorities. “The public health division of the police has once again proved its commitment to protecting the pesticide sector,” its president, Andrea Barella, says. The association has warned distributors and farmers to be aware that sellers require documentation, to be wary of low priced products, and to remember that the sale and purchase of illegal pesticides is a punishable crime.
