DuPont launches two herbicides in India
DuPont has launched two established herbicides in India for use on sugar cane and rice. Velpar (hexazinone) is effective against more than 20 weeds in sugar cane, the company reports. "There has not been a product in the last ten years or so that has been created specially to serve the weed control needs of sugar cane growers,” says L Giridharan, national marketing manager for DuPont Crop Protection Products. Londax Power (bensulfuron-methyl) is a granular herbicide for broad-spectrum weed control in rice, which can be used alone or in combination with sand and fertiliser in rice fields. Demand for Londax Power in Japan contributed to a significant rise in Dupont’s sale volumes in late 2007 ( Agrow No 536, p 4).
