Valent BioSciences debuts mosquito biopesticide
Sumitomo Chemical’s US subsidiary, Valent BioSciences (Libertyville, Illinois), is launching a new biopesticide for the control of mosquitoes. VectoMax combines toxins from Bacillus thuringiensis subsp israelensis ( Bti) and B sphaericus ( Bsph) in microparticles for ingestion by mosquito larvae. It uses Valent’s proprietary BioFuse technology to combine the “fast-acting, broad-spectrum control of Bti with the long residual control offered by Bsph”, says Valent BioSciences’ senior global business manager, Ernest Dankwa. VectoMax will be available as granular and water-soluble pouch formulations in the US this year.
