Full Canadian approval for BASF's Apogee
The Canadian Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) has proposed the full approval of BASF’s plant growth regulator, Apogee (prohexadione-calcium), on apples. It is used to reduce vegetative growth, which suppresses the bacterial disease, fireblight ( Erwinia amylovora). The PMRA granted temporary approval to Apogee in December 2006 ( Agrow No 511, p 18). The full registration decision is subject to a 45-day public comment period from March 17th.
