EFSA seeks data on agchems in protected crops
The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) is to compile an inventory of protected crop systems in the EU and the emissions of agrochemicals from these systems to the environment. It also aims to assess the importance of the different emission routes. The project is scheduled to be completed by April 2010. It is part of the EFSA's development of new guidance on evaluating pesticide emissions from protected crop systems. Specific guidance is needed as current methods to estimate pesticide emissions only relate to open fields, the EFSA notes.
