More existing ais near end of EU review
The re-registration of the herbicides, aclonifen and metazachlor, and the insecticide, imidacloprid, has been cleared by the EU Standing Committee on the Food Chain and Animal Health. The three active ingredients are in the third round of the EU review of existing ais. The Committee has also supported proposals not to re-register the plant growth regulator, flurprimidol, which is in the third round of the review, and five fourth-round ais: the bird repellent, anthraquinone; the mammal repellent, bone oil; the rodenticide, carbon monoxide; the botanical insecticide, nicotine; and the herbicide/desiccant, sulfuric acid. The Committee's opinions go forward for confirmation by the European Commission.
