Brazil aid for Africans against armyworms

Brazil is to give “emergency aid” to Liberia and Sierra Leone in their fight against the maize and cotton pest, fall armyworms ( Spodoptera frugiperda). Technical assistance will cover the use of chemical and biological solutions, the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture says. The infestation in Liberia is said to be the worst in 30 years. It has been described by a UN FAO representative as a “national emergency”.
