Innovotech targets Agress debut
The Canadian company, Innovotech (Edmonton, Alberta), plans to introduce its seed treatment, Agress (oxysilver nitrate), in the US and Canada in 2010. It hopes to receive approvals in mid to late 2009. The US EPA has scheduled an approval decision for the quarter ended September 30th 2009 ( Agrow No 545, p 15). Field tests conducted in Canada this year show that Agress is as effective or superior to streptomycin against bean blight ( Xanthomonas campestris pv phaseoli) on beans, peas and soybeans, Innovotech says. The company is developing Agress for the control of fungal and bacterial diseases on legumes ( Agrow No 533, p 22). It is also seeking to extend use to other major crops.
