Valent debuts flumioxazin in Canada

Sumitomo Chemical subsidiary Valent USA Corporation (Walnut Creek, California) is to introduce a range of flumioxazin-based herbicides in Canada following approval of the active ingredient there last month. Valent Canada (Guelph, Ontario) will sell the residual herbicide as Valtera for use on soybeans. It will be distributed by Engage Agro (Guelph, Ontario) as Chateau on fruit and vegetables, SureGard and BroadStar on ornamentals, and Payload in industrial vegetation management. Flumioxazin was launched in the US as Valor for use on soybeans in 2001 ( Agrow No 375, p 20). Chateau, SureGard and Broadstar were introduced in 2003/04 ( Agrow No 461, p 23).
