Hodogaya UPL acquires Sankyo's Karphos
The United Phosphorus/Hodogaya Chemical Japanese joint venture, Hodogaya UPL (Tokyo), has acquired the insecticide, Karphos (isoxathion), from the Mitsui Chemical subsidiary, Sankyo Agro. The acquisition marks the continued “steady growth” of the joint venture in Japan, both for the crop and non-crop segments, United Phosphorus maintains. It will combine well with the other agrochemicals that Hodogaya UPL sells in the country: the insecticide, Diptrex (trichlorfon), and the herbicide, asulam, the company adds. United Phosphorus plans to evaluate the potential of Karphos across its global business network. Hodogaya UPL was established earlier this year, and markets agrochemicals in Japan, with a focus on the non-crop sector ( Agrow No 535, p 2).
