DuPont and China work on crop research
DuPont and the Institute of Plant Protection of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) have entered into a multi-year research collaboration to improve in-plant insect control and increase yield in crops of “worldwide importance”. DuPont seed subsidiary Pioneer Hi-Bred International will work with the Institute to identify insecticidal proteins to develop and commercialise the next generation of genetically modified insect-resistant crops. The terms of the agreement were not disclosed. The CAAS has previously signed memoranda of understanding regarding crop research collaboration with Monsanto and Bayer CropScience ( Agrow No 557, p 3).
