Brazil set to approve prohexadione
Brazilian toxicology authorities have recommended the approval of Iharabras’ plant growth regulator, prohexadione-calcium. The national health surveillance agency, the Anvisa, has cleared the active ingredient’s dossier for use as a foliar application on apples, cotton, flowers and potatoes and ornamentals. It had been scheduled to analyse the dossier last year ( Agrow No 541, p 17). The Anvisa has determined that registrants must present new teratogenic studies on rabbits within 18 months. The agency opened a 30-day public comment period from April 28th.
