Anvisa must defend Brazil agchem bans
The Brazilian parliamentary agriculture commission, the Capadir, is to demand justification for the banning of up to 13 pesticide active ingredients in the country. Key ais used in the production of 200 pesticide products in Brazil could be banned by the end of this month ( Agrow No 567, p 19). The Capadir has approved the proposed requirement from the MP, Moacir Micheletto, that the president of the national health surveillance agency, the Anvisa, Dirceu Raposo de Mello, defend any prohibition. The Anvisa is leading the review of the pesticides.
