Brazil provisionally OKs Bayer's LibertyLink cotton
Brazil has provisionally approved Bayer CropScience’s genetically modified glufosinate-tolerant LibertyLink cotton for marketing. The Brazilian national technical commission for biosafety, the CTNBio, voted by 18 members to three, to approve what would be the country’s second GM cotton product. Monsanto’s GM Bollgard cotton (531) is already marketed in the country. The latest approval needs to be ratified by the Ministry of Agriculture. Bayer welcomes the “very good news”. Launch plans would follow ratification, it adds.
