Colombia gets independent agchem recycle body
The Colombia pesticide recycling organisation, Campo Limpio, has become an autonomous not-for-profit society. It had been voluntarily run for ten years by a group of importers and manufacturers from the industry association, the ANDI. Campo Limpio manager Myriam Ayala has set out the organisation’s role. It is to: establish and manage the collection system; dispose of empty containers; give help and advice to the industry, distribution chain and farmers in carrying out their responsibilities; promote awareness of human health and environmental protection; and support technological development of empty packages. Colombia passed Resolution 693 last year, requiring all in the product chain to take adequate part in recycling activities ( Agrow No 519, p 15). It set a 20% of annual production collection target for the first year.
