Use of banned pesticides still a problem in China

The use of banned and restricted pesticides is still an issue in China, despite the repeated efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture to enforce relevant regulations, reports the Ministry's Center For Agri-food Quality and Safety. The Ministry has banned or restricted the use of 41 pesticide active ingredients, but these ais are still being used in a “small number of regions”. China banned the agricultural use of five “high-toxicity” organophosphate insecticides from January 1st 2007 ( Agrow No 447, p 20).
