BASF seeks Canadian OK for GM soybeans

BASF has submitted regulatory applications to the Canadian authorities for its genetically modified imidazolinone herbicide-tolerant soybeans (CV127). The company has applied to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and Health Canada for environmental release and for food and feed clearances for its GM soybeans. BASF is developing GM imidazolinone herbicide-tolerant soybeans in collaboration with the Brazilian agricultural research corporation, the Embrapa ( Agrow No 527, p 2).
