Chile OKs BASF's metaflumizone
Chile has granted approval for BASF/ Nihon Nohyaku’s semicarbazone insecticide, metaflumizone. It is for use on tomatoes to control lepidopteran pests, such as tomato moths ( Tuta absoluta) and potato tuber moths ( Phthorimaea operculella), and on those that have built up resistance to insecticides, the company says. BASF is to market the suspension concentrate product as Verismo. Metaflumizone was first registered in Colombia in late 2006 ( Agrow No 518, p 22). The company was aiming for at least 36 national approvals for the active ingredient in 2007-12.
