EU to withdraw use of garlic as biocide
Garlic extract will not gain registration for use as an insecticide or repellent/attractant under the EU biocidal products Directive (98/8), the European Commission says. The Directive covers a wide range of substances, including non-crop pesticides. Garlic extract was in the Directive's review of existing ais. It is one of a batch of substances being withdrawn because companies decided to discontinue their support or did not submit a complete data dossier.
