Spanish agchem encapsulation system developed
A Spanish research body has developed and patented a system to apply herbicides slowly in order to limit the risk of contamination of waterways and the ground. The Spanish National Research Council’s institute of natural resources and agro-biology of Seville was granted the patent. The method encapsulates and slowly releases pesticides in order to avoid leaching and minimise volatility, the institute says. The product was developed for agricultural use and would benefit Spanish soils, which are often alkaline in nature.
