Lat Am recycled half of empty containers in 2008
Close to half of all empty plastic pesticide containers were recycled or disposed of in Latin America last year. Some 24,016 tonnes or 49% of such containers were recycled in the region under the association’s Campo Limpio (clean land) campaign, a rise of 11.5% on 2007. Brazil led the way, collecting and recycling the largest proportion of such containers in the world, according to the association, CropLife Latin America. The country increased its recycling by 11.6% to 19,260 tonnes. That represented over 90% of plastic containers in the country ( Agrow No 566, p 20).
