Agrium deal with US FTC on UAP purchase
The Canadian agricultural products company, Agrium (Calgary, Alberta), has reached agreement with the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) over its planned purchase of major US agrochemical distributor United Agri Products (UAP - Greeley, Colorado). Agrium is to divest seven of some 370 retail centres that the FTC had concerns over. The deal should allow the acquisition to be completed in early May, Agrium says. It has extended its acquisition offer until May 2nd. The latest offer was due to expire on April 30th ( Agrow No 540, p 2).
