EU Ministers formalise agchem proposals
EU Ministers have formalised their agreement on the proposed revision of the EU agrochemical registration Directive (91/414). The agreement reached by EU Agriculture Ministers in June ( Agrow No 546, p 8) was formally adopted as a "common position" at one of the first available ministerial meetings after the summer break, that of EU Foreign Affairs Ministers on September 15th. The move allows enough time to forward the proposals to the European Parliament for a second reading this year. The European Crop Protection Association has repeated its call for an impact assessment of the controversial proposal to introduce hazard-based criteria into the agrochemical registration process.
