Isagro gets 1st EU and Asian OKs for Kelion
The Italian agrochemical company, Isagro (Milan), has gained the first EU and Asian approvals for its rice herbicide, Kelion (orthosulfamuron 50%). Italy has registered the product for pre- and post-emergence use against annual and perennial grasses. It acted as EU rapporteur member state for the active ingredient. Orthosulfamuron is the company’s first proprietary herbicide. Kelion will be launched in Italy this season and distributed by Isagro Italia and its Sumitomo joint venture, Siapa, the company told Agrow. Bangladesh has become the fourth country to approve the product, following registrations in the US and Colombia ( Agrow No 538, p 23). The company expects to have 20 worldwide registrations for the herbicide by 2010 and is developing its use on other crops.
