Italy OKs Bayer's fluopicolide
Italy has approved two products containing Bayer CropScience’s fungicide, fluopicolide. The oomycete fungicide, Volare (fluopicolide 62.5 g/litre + propamocarb 625 g/litre) was granted registration in December 2008, while the approval for the fungicide, R6 Erresei Albis (fluopicolide 4.4% + fosetyl-aluminium 66.7%) came last July. Volare is a suspension concentrate formulation for use against late blight ( Phytophthora infestans) on potatoes and tomatoes, and downy mildews on other vegetables. R6 Erresei Albis is a water-dispersible granule formulation for use on grapevines against downy mildew ( Plasmopara viticola). Fluopicolide is sold in the UK, Poland, Germany and Austria as Infinito ( Agrow No 513, p 18). It was first approved in the UK and China in 2006 ( Agrow No 485, p 21).
