Mitsui Chemicals' agchem sales double on Sankyo buy
Sales of Mitsui Chemicals' agrochemical business almost doubled in the year to March 31st 2008 as a result of the acquisition of Japanese agrochemical company Sankyo Agro in early 2007. Mitsui's crop protection business has been integrated with Sankyo Agro, under the Sankyo Agro name ( Agrow No 525, p 1). The combined sales of the new Sankyo Agro business was ¥ 39,000 million ($358.8 million) in fiscal 2008. In the previous year, Mitsui's agrochemical sales were ¥ 20,000 million ($184 million).
