Colombia extends container recycling
Colombia has extended its empty pesticide container recycling, more than doubling the regions with collection points, CropLife Latin America says. New points have been established this year in 67 municipalities, bringing the participating municipality count to 93. The national pesticide recycling organisation, Campo Limpio, leads the work, involving the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and the regional network of specialists, UMATAS. USAID is aiding national authorities to improve the safe use of pesticides in the country ( Agrow No 542, p 21). Campo Limpio aims to collect 300 tonnes of empty containers in December and has been spreading its training of rural workers in the triple rinse method. The recycling organisation became an independent body this year ( Agrow ibid).
