Argentina to boost agchem container recycling

Argentine agricultural associations aim to boost the recycling and disposal of pesticide containers in the country, CropLife Latin America says. The Argentine agrochemical industry association, the CASAFE, has signed a deal with two other associations: the ACTA, which covers seed, machinery, veterinary products and pesticide businesses; and the AACREA, a union of regional agricultural research consortiums, typically composed of 10-15 farms. The CASAFE believes the deal will lead to a 60% annual increase in collections to 1,850 tonnes of plastic through its programme, the Agro Limpio. The association also hopes that the deal will act as a spur to the practice of triple rinsing and result in greater environmental awareness among farmers.
