BASF debuts Alverde in Italy

BASF has introduced Nihon Nohyaku’s semicarbazone insecticide, metaflumizone, in Italy as Alverde. Italy granted the registration for the active ingredient last summer. Alverde is a 240 g/litre suspension concentrate formulation for use on potatoes and greenhouse vegetables against heart and dart moths ( Agrotis exclamationis). Metaflumizone was first registered in Colombia in late 2006. Austria granted the first approval in the EU the following year ( Agrow No 518, p 22). BASF has jointly developed metaflumizone with Nihon Nohyaku, which discovered the active ingredient ( Agrow No 460, p 3).
