Bayer sets up US biotechnology centre
Bayer CropScience is to establish a US plant biotechnology research centre in Morrisville, North Carolina. It plans to invest over $10 million in the centre during the next five years, with the creation of 130 jobs. The centre’s discovery programmes will focus on agronomic traits, while regulatory support will be provided for products already well advanced in the pipeline, the company says. It is due to start operating this autumn. Bayer will consolidate its European plant biotechnology research activities in Ghent, Belgium ( Agrow No 565, p 7).
