EU Ministers to consider review ais

The European Commission has asked EU Ministers to decide on the re-registration of six active ingredients. The move comes after the EU Standing Committee on the Food Chain and Animal Health was unable to agree on the fate of the ais earlier this year ( Agrow No 564, p 12). The Commission is proposing re-registration for only one of the ais, the fungicide, tetraconazole. It is recommending the withdrawal of: the insecticide/acaricide, bifenthrin; the fungicide, triazoxide; the fumigant, metam; the plant growth regulator, diphenylamine; and four types of paraffin oil, used as insecticides.
