Brazil illegal agchem seizures up a third

Brazilian authorities seized 6.3 tonnes of illegal pesticides in the first quarter of this year, the Brazilian agrochemical industry trade union, the Sindag, says. That is more than a third up on the 4.7 tonnes that the police confiscated last year. Increased inspections led to a drop of 42% in the sale of illegal pesticides in 2007 ( Agrow No 535, p 18).
