US tolerances for dinotefuran in rice
The US EPA has established temporary tolerances for Mitsui Chemicals’ neonicotinoid insecticide, dinotefuran, in rice in Texas. The tolerances are associated with an emergency exemption for the control of stink bugs ( Oebalus pugnax). The tolerances are due to expire on December 31st 2009. Sumitomo Chemical subsidiary Valent USA Corporation introduced dinotefuran for use on ornamentals, as Safari, in 2004 and on the first food crops, as Venom, in 2006 ( Agrow No 493, p 18).
