China OK's monosulfuron ester project
A project to develop the herbicide, monosulfuron ester, undertaken by Nankai University's national pesticide engineering research center in Tianjin, China, has received “mid-term” approval. The approval for the ongoing project was awarded by an inspection group headed by the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Nankai University's monosulfuron ester is for use on wheat against broadleaf weeds, and is seen as a replacement herbicide for tribenuron-methyl, the University reports. The herbicide has been under development for 12 years, and is being applied on 8,020 ha across China.
