EU Agric Ministers concerned about agchem plans

EU Agriculture Ministers have expressed concern that MEPs' proposals to add further restrictions to agrochemical approvals could have a detrimental affect on European agriculture. The Ministers and the European Commission have already reached an agreement on plans to revise the EU agrochemical registration Directive (91/414), but the European Parliament's Environment Committee wants to make further changes ( Agrow No 556, p 11). At the Ministers' meeting in November, delegations from 16 member states urged the French presidency of the EU to "seek a balanced agreement" in future negotiations on the issue.
