Agchem spraying ban in Argentine Pampas
Pesticide spraying on soybeans has been banned in an Argentine region following a legal challenge, Argentine media report. The judge from the 11th trade and civil court has directed the San Jorge regional authorities to set limits on where farmers may treat their crops. Until that time, the judge has ruled that aerial applications must be at least 1,500 m from urban areas, and terrestrial applications be restricted to at least 800 m from populations. San Jorge is part of the Pampas region. The ruling has set a precedent that could lead to further bans across the “vast” soybean-growing Pampa region, according to Argentine press reports.
