Philippines ends GM rice contamination controversy

The Philippine government has denied allegations by environmentalist group Greenpeace that some supermarkets in its capital city were selling rice contaminated with genetically modified strains, according to a report in the Philippine internet news service, Sun Star. Greenpeace had alleged the presence of GMOs in two imported US long grain rice brands: Blue Ribbon Texas Long Grain and Riceland Arkansas Long Grain. The brands are being sold in the S&R supermarkets in Manila, Greenpeace says.
