Paraguay seizes unlicensed agchems
Paraguayan authorities seized pesticides worth over $400,000 from five agrochemical suppliers in October. Fungicidal seed treatments, herbicides and insecticides were the main classes of products to be impounded. The Paraguayan plant health and seed quality service, the Senave, decommissioned the products. They were authorised for use in the country, but the importing companies involved had falsified documents. The five companies were Diagro, Agrotec, Inagro, Chentec and Total PY. The news came as the Senave extended its inspections across the country. It decommissioned pesticides of the agrochemical company, Mario Commercial, last summer ( Agrow No 553, p 18).
