Med flies return to Chile
Mediterranean fruit flies ( Ceratitis capitata) have returned to Chile. The pest has been detected in the urban area, Independencia, the Chilean agriculture and cattle service, the SAG, says. The authorities are to carry out quarantine control measures over a 15 km area. The measures were laid down in a SAG Resolution 13 years ago. They include the destruction of fruit and the application of insecticides or the use of poisonous baits.
