MEPs call for study on pesticide/bee link
The European Parliament's Agriculture Committee has called for the European Commission to carry out a study on the possible link between bee mortality and the use of pesticides, specifically the insecticides, thiamethoxam, imidacloprid, clothianidin and fipronil. The Commission has been urged to co-ordinate information from EU member states and to take "appropriate" measures. The call is one of a wide range of recommendations made in a Committee resolution on safeguarding bee-keeping. The resolution goes forward for a vote by the full Parliament at its next meeting.
