US growers welcome Korean OK for GM soybeans
The American Soybean Association (ASA) has welcomed South Korean import approval for Bayer CropScience’s genetically modified glufosinate-tolerant LibertyLink soybeans. The approval clears the way for unrestricted planting in the US and exports to all major markets, the ASA points out. Bayer plans to introduce LibertyLink soybeans on some 400,000 ha in the US this year ( Agrow No 559, p 21). The company has received import approvals in key export markets including Australia, China, the EU, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, the Philippines, Russia, South Africa and Taiwan.
