BASF debuts Vivando in Chile
BASF has launched its fungicide, Vivando SC (metrafenone 500 g/litre), in Chile for use on grapevines against powdery mildew ( Uncinula necator) for the 2008/09 season. Vivando is for use as a preventive treatment at 0.2-0.3 litre/ha. Chile granted the registration last year. Colombia has also approved the product for use on roses. The approvals are the first for the active ingredient in South America. Metrafenone was first registered in the UK four years ago for use on cereals ( Agrow No 441, p 21) and is approved for use on grapevines in southern European countries ( Agrow passim). Demand for products for use on grapevines was key to BASF’s product introductions in 2007 ( Agrow No 529, p 4).
