Brazil bans cyhexatin
Brazil is to withdraw all insecticides based on the active ingredient, cyhexatin, by November 2011. That is the ruling of the Ministry of Health’s national health surveillance agency, the Anvisa. It has ordered the immediate banning of imports and registrations of new products based on the ai. Cyhexatin is used in seven pesticide products in Brazil. Its use on citrus fruit will continue until the deadline under a stricter regime, while its use on apples, strawberries, aubergines and coffee will cease immediately, the Anvisa rules. The main registrant of cyhexatin is Sipcam-Oxon.
