US to cancel most organic arsenical herbicides
The US EPA has notified the receipt of requests to cancel most uses of organic arsenical herbicides. Registrants are seeking to cancel approvals for all products based on DSMA, CMA and cacodylic acid and its sodium salt. All uses of MSMA are to be cancelled except for cotton, with use on turf farms, golf courses and roads to be allowed until December 31st 2013. Use of the other herbicides is due to end on December 31st 2010. Registrants agreed to the phase-out earlier this year ( Agrow No 562, p 11).
